Podcasts have been around since the early 2000s, but it’s only in the past few years that they’ve really blown up. The range of options is vast: you can find everything from polished, professionally made narratives to a bunch of friends just goofing around. There really is something out there for everyone.
That being said, as avid podcast aficionados we do have our favourites. Here are some of them.
The original (and probably best) bad movie podcast hosted by former daily show writers Elliott Kalan and Dan McCoy, and bar owner Stuart Wellington. Never orderly, always funny.
Favourite episode: Foodfight
Three nerds discussing tech, Apple, programming, and – more often than not – completely unrelated matters. Hosted by Marco Arment, Casey Liss, and John Siracusa.
A podcast that explores the world’s most recognizable and interesting sounds, delving into their history, science, and cultural significance, offering a unique and immersive listening experience for anyone who loves sound and its role in our lives. Hosted by professional sound designer Dallas Taylor.
Advertised as a “podcast about language”, but it’s actually much, much more than that. With a mix of humour, insight, and expert interviews, it offers a fascinating and entertaining look at the way we communicate, and how language shapes our world. Hosted by linguist and author Helen Zaltzman.
We might be slightly biased here, having created the intro theme…but this podcast about the personal journeys of innovators is regularly enlightening and thus still on our playlist.
Favourite episode: Hessam Lavi
Probably one of the most well-known podcasts, but also one of the best. A must-listen for anyone who wants to stay informed and up-to-date on the latest news and events. Hosted by Michael Barbaro and Sabrina Tevernise.
If you’ve ever wanted to take a peek behind the curtains of songwriting and audio production, there is no better place to start. Hosted by professional audio engineer Hrishikesh Hirway.
Favourite episode: Kiss from a Rose
Pitchfork’s music critics are likely among the most fervent individuals in their field, often delivering brutally honest reviews. And now they have their own podcast where they talk about the latest releases. Hosted by editor-in-chief Puja Patel and reviews editor Jeremy D. Larson.
Interviews mit Tiefgang, charismatisch moderiert von Matze Hielscher, der in diesem Podcast auf unterhaltsame Art eine einzigartige Perspektive auf das Leben und die Welt bietet.
